Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Expertum Group BV uses cookies and similar technologies on www.expertum.net. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
The processing of personal data obtained through cookies is governed by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Storing information on, or accessing information from, a user’s device is also governed by applicable electronic-communications and ePrivacy rules. This means that non-essential statistics and marketing technologies normally require prior consent, while strictly necessary technologies may be used without consent where the legal conditions are met.
1. COOKIES
This website makes use of cookies that trace your online activity, including, but without restriction, your subscription, the offer of information and the request for information.
Cookies are small pieces of data that a website asks your browser to store on your computer or mobile device when you visit the website or certain pages. The cookie allows the website to “remember” your actions or preferences over time. Most browsers support cookies, but users can set their browsers to decline them and can delete them whenever they like.
Cookies will usually contain the name of the website where the cookie has come from, how long the cookie will remain on your device, and a value which is usually a randomly generated unique number.
Some cookies will be deleted as soon as you leave the website (the so-called “session cookies”), other cookies will remain stored on your computer or mobile device and will help us identify you as a visitor of our website (the so-called “permanent cookies”).
We may also use similar technologies, including pixels, tags, scripts, local storage and identifiers used by embedded content. References to “cookies” in this policy also include these similar technologies, unless stated otherwise.
Cookies set by Expertum are first-party cookies. Cookies set through services operated by another organisation are third-party cookies.
Why do we use cookies and similar technologies?
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
(a) operate and secure the website;
(b) remember your choices, such as your language preference;
(c) understand how visitors use the website and improve its performance and content;
(d) process forms and protect them against spam, fraud and abuse;
(e) measure advertising campaigns and attribute website visits, enquiries or other conversions to those campaigns;
(f) use remarketing through Google Ads and LinkedIn Ads where you have given marketing consent;
(g) display embedded content, such as Vimeo videos, where applicable;
(h) recognise organisations visiting the website through Leadinfo.
Which cookies do we use?
We use first party and third-party cookies:
– First party cookies are cookies created by the Website itself. These cookies are used to optimize your user-experience.
– Third-party cookies and similar technologies may be set through services used for consent management, website analytics, online forms, website security, advertising, company recognition and embedded content. Confirmed services include Cookiebot by Usercentrics, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads and the LinkedIn Insight Tag, HubSpot, Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise, Leadinfo and Vimeo.
These services are used only in accordance with the applicable consent requirements and your cookie choices.
A further distinction can be made between the following categories:
Necessary cookies: These cookies and similar technologies are required to operate and secure the website, remember cookie choices, provide requested website functions, process forms and prevent fraud or abuse. The website may not function properly without them.
Preference cookies: These cookies remember choices that affect how the website behaves or appears, such as your language or regional preference.
Statistics cookies: These cookies and similar technologies help us understand how visitors use the website, for example which pages are visited and how visitors navigate through the website. This information helps us measure and improve the website. Statistics technologies are used only after consent where required.
Marketing cookies: These cookies and similar technologies are used to measure advertising campaigns, attribute conversions, create or manage advertising audiences and show relevant advertising across websites and platforms. Marketing technologies are used only after marketing consent where required.
Unclassified cookies: These are cookies or similar technologies that are still being investigated or classified. Expertum regularly reviews the Cookiebot scan results and resolves unclassified technologies where possible.
2. HOW DO WE MANAGE YOUR COOKIE CONSENT?
We use Cookiebot by Usercentrics to provide information about cookies and similar technologies and to record and manage your choices.
Necessary technologies may operate without consent where they are required to provide the website or a service you request. Except where the law permits otherwise, preference, statistics and marketing technologies are used only after you have given the relevant consent.
You can accept or reject non-essential cookies by category. You can change or withdraw your choices at any time through the cookie settings available on the website. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place lawfully before withdrawal.
3. WHICH SERVICES AND TECHNOLOGIES DO WE USE?
The website currently uses the following confirmed services and technologies:
(a) Cookiebot by Usercentrics for displaying cookie information and recording consent choices;
(b) Google Analytics and Google tag technology for website analytics;
(c) Google Tag Manager for managing website tags;
(d) Google Ads for advertising, campaign measurement, conversion measurement and remarketing;
(e) LinkedIn Ads and the LinkedIn Insight Tag for advertising, campaign measurement, conversion measurement and remarketing;
(f) HubSpot for online forms, CRM-related follow-up and communications;
(g) Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise for protecting forms against spam and abuse;
(h) Leadinfo for business-to-business company recognition and website analytics;
(i) Vimeo for embedded video content;
(j) WordPress and Elementor for operating and presenting the website;
(k) Polylang for remembering language preferences.
The use of a service does not mean that all its cookies or functions are active for every visitor. Non-essential technologies are activated according to the visitor’s cookie choices and the applicable legal requirements.
Leadinfo
Expertum uses Leadinfo to recognise organisations visiting the website. Leadinfo may process online identifiers and information about website visits to identify organisations at company level. The resulting visitor-identification information is retained by Expertum for two years. Identified organisations are not automatically sent to HubSpot or directly routed to sales.
Advertising, conversion measurement and remarketing
With your marketing consent, Expertum uses Google Ads and LinkedIn Ads to:
(a) determine whether an advertisement resulted in a website visit, enquiry or other conversion;
(b) measure and optimise advertising campaigns;
(c) understand campaign performance;
(d) include or exclude visitors from advertising audiences based on their interaction with the website;
(e) display and measure relevant advertisements on other platforms.
These services may process online identifiers, IP address, device and browser information, visited URLs, timestamps, campaign parameters and interaction or conversion information.
Expertum uses remarketing through Google Ads and LinkedIn Ads. Expertum does not use enhanced conversions.
Rejecting or withdrawing marketing consent prevents Expertum’s marketing tags from being used through the website where consent is required. It does not necessarily delete information already lawfully processed before consent was withdrawn.
Online forms
Contact, newsletter, event and download forms are processed through HubSpot. Form submissions are stored in HubSpot and are also forwarded by email to the relevant Expertum recipient.
Cookies or similar technologies used only to provide a form requested by the visitor may be treated differently from analytics or marketing technologies. Non-essential HubSpot analytics or marketing functions are used only in accordance with the applicable consent requirements.
Embedded content
Pages may contain Vimeo videos or other content supplied by third parties. Loading or interacting with embedded content may allow the provider to receive information such as your IP address, device information, page URL and interaction data.
Where required, embedded content or associated tracking is blocked until you have given the appropriate consent. If you follow a link to another platform, that platform’s own privacy and cookie information applies.
4. HOW CAN YOU MANAGE OR DELETE COOKIES?
You can manage your cookie choices through the Cookiebot cookie settings available on the website. This is the primary way to accept, reject, change or withdraw your choices by category.
You can also delete or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking all cookies may affect the functionality of the website. Browser settings may not control every form of local storage or server-side processing.
